General

Q: How can I search Flugpo?

A: There are two search functions on Flugpo. You can search the classified ads. You can also search people.

Q: How can I advertise on Flugpo? (paid advertising)

A: Click on the "Advertise With Us" page and fill out the form.

Classifieds

Q: How do I post a classified ad?

A: At the top of the site, look for the link "Post A Classified". After clicking the link, you will be given several categories to choose from to post your classified ad. Choose from: Housing, Jobs, For Sale, Personals, Services, For Loan and Events/Community. Click the appropriate category link. Next, select a region to post your ad to. (Tip: Global is the worst region to post a classified. If you post in the "University of Maryland" region that post will be seen by "Baltimore", "Maryland", "United States" and "Global". But if you post in "Global" it will only be seen in the "Global" region. So, by being as specific as possible you maximize your post's exposure.)

Q: Can I post a photo with my classified ad?

A: Yes. There is an option to upload a photo with your ad.

Q: Can I choose who views my classified ad?

A: Yes. When you are placing your ad, there is a option for privacy level. Choose from "Public", where everyone will see your ad. "Private Network", where only your network will see your ad. OR "2nd Degree" where only your contacts AND their networks will see your ads. Choosing your privacy level is all about trust, security and accountability.

Q: How can I get the most exposure for my ad?

A: Tagging your ads is very important. When you place your classified ad, there is a section at the bottom to add relevant tags to your ad. These tags will help people find your advertised item faster and easier.

Q: What are testimonials?

A: Testimonials allow you and others to provide written statements or endorsements for particular sellers and/or their products. If you bought an item from somebody and had a positive buying experience, it would be appropriate to write a positive testimonial. This helps build credibility within the community.

Q: What region should I post my classified ad in?

A: Users only see classifieds from Regions Below them. So if you post in Global only users who have set their region as Global will see your ad. Though if you post at a college then all areas encompassing the college from the metro area to global will see the ad.

Account

Q: How do I create a profile on Flugpo?

A: Click on the "Signup" link at the top of the page. At that point, you can continue with user registration or choose to sign up for a business profile. For either type of profile, you need to choose your region, username and a password.

Q: Can I sign up for both a personal profile AND a business profile?

A: Yes, you can. Sometimes people prefer to keep personal and business interactions separate. In that case, simply sign up as an individual and then also sign up as a business account.

Q: What are the advantages of having a business profile on Flugpo?

A: Businesses are different than people and Flugpo understands that. Stand out from the crowd and show that you are a professional organization. Flugpo offers businesses a focused profile, a dedicated directory and highlighted listings.

Q: Can I change my password?

A: Yes. Go to your "My Account" link. You will see a link there that says "Change Password".

Q: Can I delete my account?

A: We would be sorry to see you go, but of course you have the option to delete your account. Go to your "My Account" link. There is a link there that says "Delete Your Account".

Q: Can I control which email notifications I receive?

A: Yes. Go to your "My Account" link. Click on "Change Account Preferences". You can check the boxes that control receiving email notifications for new messages in your inbox, new comments to your profile and new messages in your groups.

Profile

Q: What is the "personal statement" area for in my profile?

A: This area is your chance to tell the community all about yourself! You can choose what you would like for people to know about you. This would be a great place to share a link to your home page, website or blog. Limited HTML is accepted such as hyperlinks.

Q: Will I get a personal link to my profile page on Flugpo?

A: Yes, you will be provided with a link directly to your personal Flugpo page. The standard link is http://www.flugpo.com/people/username. Of course, "username" will show as the name you chose in your profile set-up.

Q: How do I upload pictures to my profile?

A: On you "My profile" page, you will see a male or female icon. Click there and you will be given the option to upload your pictures to your profile. There is also a link to upload pictures on your "Home" page. After you upload a picture, you have the option of adding a caption below it. You can choose which picture you would like to set as your "primary picture" on your profile.

Q: Can I control what people see on my profile page (privacy)?

A: Yes. Go to your "My Account" link. Click on "Change Privacy Settings". Here you can choose exactly what information is displayed on your profile page. Examples: Groups you belong to, contacts, comments from other users, your forum topics, your classified ads etc..

Q: Can I approve comments posted to my profile before they appear there?

A: Yes. Go to your "My Account" link. Click on "Change Account Preferences". Uncheck the box that says "Do not require my approval of comments before displaying them on my profile".

Network

Q: Can I invite contact to Flugpo?

A: On your home page, there is a link "Invite Contacts" contained within the Quick Links Box. You have the option of importing your email contacts from your address book of most any email program.

Q: Can I control how my network is displayed on my profile page?

A: Yes. Go to your "My Account" link. Click on "Change Account Preferences". Here you can choose from a variety of ways to have your network shown on your page.

Q: How do I add another Flugpo member as part of my network?

A: Click on that member's profile page. Under their picture, there is a button that says "Add To Network". Once you click it, that person is added to your network.

Groups

Q: How do I join a group?

A: When you find a group you would like to join, just click the "Join Group" button shown on the group page. You will immediately become a member of the group.

Q: How do I post messages to a group message board?

A: After you have joined the group by hitting the "Join Group" button, you can start posting to the group message board right away. Click the "Post" button on the message board and start typing your message.

Q: The group message board only shows the latest posts. Can I view the earlier messages posted there?

A: Yes. On the group message board, there is a link that says "View All". Once you click that, you will be able to read every message that has been posted there.

Q: Once I join a group, can I leave it?

A: Yes. On the group message board, there is a link that says "Leave Group". They will be sorry to see you go but after that click, you will have successfully left the group.

Forums

Q: How do I post a topic on the forums?

A: Click on "Forums". There are many categories to choose from for your topic. Pick the most appropriate category and click on it. It will show the current topics within that category. To start a new topic, click on the "Post A Topic" button.

Q: How do I reply to an forum discussion already in progress?

A: Click on the forum discussion. Click the "Reply" button and type your response. You can choose which member to reply to within the discussion.

Spam

Q: What is Flugpo's position on spam?

A: Flugpo does not tolerate spam. Anyone caught "spamming" will have their account disabled immediately.

Q: I saw a very obvious spam posting. Can I do anything about it?

A: All classified ads have a link labeled "Flag As Spam". Click that link and it will be reported to the site administrator. Refer to "Code Of Conduct" and "Report Misconduct" pages for more detailed information.

Q: I saw a very inappropriate ad. Can I do anything about it?

A: All classified ads have a link labeled "Flag As Inappropriate". Click that link and it will be reported to the site administrator. Refer to "Code Of Conduct" and "Report Misconduct" pages for more detailed information.
